“The Lapse” is a façade renovation project of a traditional Dutch-style building. We take time as a design element and aim to transform the building envelope such that it is more than just a plane.
The design is composed of a row of louvers with upper and lower parts open to two different directions. By pulling the left side of the façade outward, a gentle curved surface is formed. When people or passengers on vehicle pass by the building, they will obverse the dynamics of the continuously changing density of the louvers, differing from the traditional Dutch-style architecture with long elevation and repetitive windows. New programmes such as covered bus station, bicycle parking, additional walkway connecting first and second floor are created.
The play of light and shadow at day and night further highlights the fluidity of the new façade.

“The Lapse” 這項目為一座荷蘭傳統式建築進行外牆活化工程，我們將時間作為一個設計元素並希望將建築的立面改換成不止於平面的表皮。
新的設計採用上下兩段分別向左右側採光的格栅，透過在左側一端稍為向外拉開，營造出一條簡潔的流線。由於建築物臨接道路，當人群及車輛經過的時候，可觀察立面由疏變密、由密變疏的動感， 為傳統荷蘭式建築不斷重覆的長立面帶來突破。新的活動機能，如有遮蓋的巴士亭、腳踏車的停泊空間、連接一樓夾層與二樓的外加通道等也因而被創造。
日間陽光穿過格栅透進室內，夜間室內的燈光向外映射，這種內與外的光影交流更突顯這片立面的若動若靜的神韻。
