Café LES AMIS, a café specializing French pastry, nestles cozily at the periphery of a park with its shopfront facing a large screen of fresh green. We aim to soften the boundary of interior and exterior space in order to strengthen the interaction between nature and the built artifact.

 

Bring Nature In

Operable folding window and sliding door are applied to maximize the threshold, allowing daylight and fresh air to enter the café. As an extension of greenery into the interior space, a feature wall of rolling pins with small planting pots are set at the most prominent side of the café. Meanwhile, a stripe of wooden band at the lower part of the wall runs all the way from the threshold to the whole café as a skirt that embraces the visitors.

 

 

Bring Program Out

A small set of display shelves is set below the folding windows, showcasing some of the latest products of the café. While the wooden table on top of the shelves can be extended outward, with tall stools placing outside the café, it becomes a counter serving both the users inside and outside. People are invited to enjoy their coffee and desserts both inside and outside the café. The park and café, the nature and people thus become an integral whole.

咖啡廳座落於一個大型公園的邊沿,店面迎向一個大片綠化空間。我們希望透過軟化室外與室內之間的邊界,增強自然與人為建設之間相向的互動。

 

引進自然

店面設計採用趟門及摺窗,大幅度增強內外的通透性,同時讓自然光及新鮮空氣進入咖啡廳。此外,我們希望將公園中的綠意引入室內空間,故此在咖啡廳最當眼的牆身放置一幅特色牆: 利用一般製作麵團的木棒,配搭各式各樣的綠色小盤栽,將焙烘甜點的精神融入自然中。同時,從窗口處的牆身有一道木圍身,一直向店內延伸至整個用餐區,讓客人置身一個猶如被自然包圍的空間。

 

對外開放

在窗口下方設置了一個陳列架,供店主放置一些最新的產品,作對外宣傳之用。在陳列架上又設置一張能向外伸展的木桌,配合擺放於店外的高椅,成為一張供內外使用的桌子,客人因此能同時在店內及店外享用咖啡及甜點。如此,咖啡廳不是一個獨立的個體,而是與公園、自然、人與活動融為一體的空間。
